Dear Storybook is an AI-powered platform that helps you create personalized children's books from your family's memories and photos. You can draft, preview, and order professionally printed hardcover or softcover books fulfilled by our print partner, Lulu Press, Inc. ("Lulu").

You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. AI generation requires a verified email address.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently or harmfully.

AI generation is provided only to help create and revise books in the Service. It is not a general-purpose chatbot or a resale of access to OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or any other AI provider.

One real-AI, text-only sample is available per account before purchase. A paid creation credit unlocks full-story writing, revisions, and illustrations for one specific book, subject to the credit's generation-cost budget. A successful credit purchase resets the account's sample opportunity. Provider failures do not debit the creation credit, but all other safety and rate limits still apply.

Generation is also subject to per-minute, per-day, per-book, and per-page limits. Current upper bounds include three initial-draft attempts per account per day, 80 text revisions per day with no more than four per page or 80 per book, and 100 illustration generations per day with no more than five per page or 100 per book. A book may have only one successful initial draft. Shorter burst limits and Service-wide operation and spending limits also apply, so actual availability may be lower.

We may adjust these limits, reject duplicate or automated requests, or temporarily disable generation to protect users, providers, and the Service from abuse or unexpected cost. A failed or blocked request may still count toward a limit when provider or safety work has already been performed.

A $20 creation credit is charged before full AI generation. It is non-refundable, applies only to the selected book, and is applied once to that book's printed-book price at checkout. There is no digital-delivery product with the creation credit. If you delete a book with an active creation credit, the credit is forfeited. Shipping and applicable tax are included in the final quoted print price. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full payment card details.

Because each book is custom-printed to order, all sales are final once a print job is submitted to Lulu. If your order is not yet in production, contact us at [email protected] within 24 hours of purchase and we will do our best to cancel it. If a book arrives damaged or defective, contact us within 14 days with photos and we will arrange a replacement or refund.

As between you and us, you retain the rights you have in photos, text, and memories you upload or enter ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process, store, reproduce, and transmit Your Content as needed to operate the Service. This includes automated safety screening through OpenAI, generation through OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Anthropic Claude when selected, and print fulfillment through Lulu. We do not sell Your Content or share it for third-party advertising.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any photos or other material you upload. Do not upload content you do not own or have permission to use. If Your Content depicts another person, including a child, you must have authority to provide it for the processing described in our Privacy Policy.

A book may use the ordinary deletion flow only before checkout begins, while it is in draft or illustration review. Provider, payment, print, security, and legally required records may remain as explained in our Privacy Policy.

Story text, illustrations, and other content generated by our AI models (powered by Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and/or OpenAI) are created automatically based on your inputs. User inputs, reference photos, and generated outputs may be screened by OpenAI's automated moderation service and by the selected generation provider. We may reject, remove, or decline to print content based on those checks. Automated checks can make mistakes and do not guarantee that all inappropriate content will be detected.

AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or not match your expectations. You are responsible for reviewing all pages before placing a print order. AI outputs are not routinely reviewed by a human before delivery. We make no warranties about the accuracy, safety, uniqueness, or artistic quality of AI-generated content.

Copyright in AI-generated text and images may be uncertain or limited under applicable law. We make no representations about your ability to claim copyright in AI-generated portions of your book. Your original inputs (photos, memories you wrote) remain yours.

Print fulfillment is handled by Lulu Press, Inc., an independent third party. Once submitted, print jobs are subject to Lulu's production and shipping timelines and their terms of service. We are not responsible for delays, damage in transit, or errors caused by Lulu beyond our reasonable control.

Shipping costs and estimated delivery times are provided before payment and are estimates only. We currently ship within the United States.

When checkout begins, the Service captures an immutable print snapshot containing the approved title, print settings, page text, and image references. Payment and fulfillment are bound to that snapshot. Later edits or deletion requests do not change a paid print order, and we retain the snapshot and related print records as needed to fulfill and support the order.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Virginia.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms at dearstorybook.com and updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
